Even after graduating from the Deep Blue Ambassador program, Avuyile Nogaga carries its spirit like a tide that never recedes. Now in grade 10, she looks back on the beach cleanups and ocean camps not just as fun memories, but as formative moments that awakened her sense of purpose.
“I miss the energy,” she says. “Being surrounded by people who shared the same passion for the ocean made me feel like I was part of something bigger. That unity and purpose is what I miss the most.”

That feeling of belonging planted something powerful: the belief that change starts with you. It’s a mindset Avuyile has carried into her daily life: school, her community, and her personal growth. When she sees something that needs fixing, she doesn’t wait for permission, she takes action.
“I want to inspire others by showing that it’s possible to care, lead, and make an impact at a young age,” she says. “Whether it’s helping at events or just being someone others can look up to, I want to guide the next wave of ocean protectors.”
One moment that stuck with her happened during a beach cleanup, when a younger child asked why they were picking up plastic. Avuyile didn’t hesitate. She shared that even one bottle, one choice, can help protect marine life, and that knowledge passed hand to hand can shift entire communities. That simple conversation reminded her of the ripple effect young leaders can create.
Looking forward, Avuyile dreams of more opportunities for youth to build confidence through leadership training, public speaking workshops, and school outreach. She knows that the ability to share your message, boldly and clearly, is just as powerful as the message itself.
Avuyile is proof that a single voice, anchored in care and conviction, can echo across coastlines. Hers is one of many in a rising chorus, calling for connection, protection, and hope.
We believe conservation isn’t just about protecting ecosystems. It’s about uplifting voices, building community, and sparking action through empathy, curiosity, and care. Learn more about the Deep Blue Ambassadors.
