What isn’t a mystery is the toll life had taken: emaciated, injured, and barely hanging on. A torn tendon in his left shoulder had left him adrift, likely floating for days before rescue. His left flipper remains unusable, and swimming is a daily struggle. Add a damaged hip and advancing arthritis, and it’s clear that Disci has weathered more than most.
